Halloween is a big deal around these parts. Every year, I totally over do it. Ya know, making the 3 ingredient pumpkin cookies and eating them all by myself; being grumpy that there are ALWAYS leaves in my backyard; and allowing my children to use the free paper bags you get from shopping at Trader Joes, for trick-or-treat bags.
Classy.
I went to bunco last week, and won some sweet 5 dollar pumpkin lights. Leaving the party with my box in hand, I was giddy with joy, to have my very own Halloween decorations. Tis the season! I thought to myself, "I wonder how long these will last in my house..." To my surprise, they lasted more than twenty minutes. A half hour after opening the box, every single pumpkin was removed from the string of lights.
Every year, since J was born, my sister has mailed us Halloween costumes for the kids. In Halloweens of old, she has sent adorable little costumes, that my kids have adored. J still loves to put on his chicken costume from his first year of Halloween--- no, it doesn't fit him, but I gave up trying to explain that one to him! Joining the chicken in our Halloween collection, are a dragon, a kangaroo, and Chewbacca himself. What? Those are random.
Since our life is just overflowing with excitement, it's actually become this fun thing we look forward to! When someone asks, "So, what are you going to be for Halloween", I never know. She keeps it a secret and sends them to us in the mail, while we wait with abated breath to see where our destiny will guide us each Halloween. It's kind of one-of-those-things that happened, because my boys were the only grandkids for a while (until my fabulous nephews came along. Shout to D-RON, JOE-JOE, E-JAY!).
This year, my sister magically owns two babinos of her very own for the first year! The question arose if she was going to leave the dressing of my children to their mother. Fortunately, we figured it would be logical, for each of us to pick out costumes, and send them to each other, across the country, instead of actually buying our own. Makes sense. Right? Side note: she lives is Georgia. Pronounced: Joe-Jah Emphasis on the Joe. Thanks.
So, while plenty of fabulous people I know, will be creating their very own costumes and beautifying their homes this season, I want you to know that I will be enjoying my burned pumpkin cookies, jumping into piles of never ending leaves, and recycling our T.J. bags.
And loving our costumes.
Hugh the hamburger.
J the garden gnome.

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I love their costumes. And I wish we're leaving so close to each other then our Halloween will be so much more fun!
