Today is different.
I put the boys down for their naps, and I'm just going to sit here and not move a muscle. I have, in fact, scoured every inch of my home, and I care not to see any more of it.
This morning I wanted to go to Disneyland. And I totally was on the ball. Diaper bag packed: diapers, snacks, that 25 cent car that the humans fight over, and two books. Ya know, in case the world comes to an end, we were prepared. Children fed, clothed, and looking as not-homeless as possible. We were ready to go.
I couldn't find my car key.
Key = singular, not plural = stupid.
Between all of the creatures that roam my abode, it could be anywhere. So, as much as I loved digging through the trash, touching heavens knows what, I don't know if I was happy or sad that I didn't find it in there this time. Read: this time. I looked through laundry, in the fridge, in the cupboards, in the toy boxes, in the dishwasher, in the laundry machine, under the couches, under the rugs, under the beds, behind curtains, behind bookshelves, and in the trash. Again. Just for good measure.
"Hey J, remember the key that I took away from you five million times yesterday, and asked you to not touch, because it was very important, and I didn't want you to loose it, so I asked you to NOT TOUCH IT ANYMORE SO YOU WOULDN'T LOOSE IT? BECAUSE IT'S VERY IMPORTANT!?" I asked him in one swift breath.
"No."
It doesn't exist. It obviously vanished into thin air, since my two year old seems to have no recollection of it ever existing.
OUCH that sucks.
ReplyDeleteWell at least your not in solitary confinement not allowed to see sunshine except through a tinted window while sitting in a hard chair aka office for 18 hours today :)
I love your posts, Becca. I really do. I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am that you are writing again.
ReplyDeletePS. I hope you find your car keys. Disneyland is waiting! :)
you'll find it.
ReplyDeletemaybe if you look in the trash ONE MORE TIME...
i wanted to go to disneyland this morning, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are writing again...I love your posts too! ;-)
ReplyDeleteSO you're back, eh? Good. Now I can get my laugh fix for the day. Or my second one at least. Diego is usually good for one laugh a day. So where did the keys end up?
ReplyDeleteRemember when we baby sat last night...but really we just all hung out?
ReplyDeleteThat was fun.
Sorry the key has vanished.
That's not so fun.
