Eating strike

Ever since J started teething again a couple weeks ago, the kid has been on a food strike. I think he is trying to support the other starving children in the world, by reducing waste, and just not eating.

Urgh. It's been such a hassle to find stuff this kid will eat. He used to be a human garbage disposal, eating anything that even resembled food, never caring what it was. It's emotionally taxing on a mother who is already slightly more emotional then needs be. Either way, every meal is a toss-up: Will the human eat, or will he not?? You never know. Foods he loved one day, are tossed to the floor with disgust the next.

The fact that he is SUPER independent, hasn't helped matters much. I have found he generally loves yogurt. The only problem is, he only wants to feed himself. Usually this is totally fine, and I let him go wild, but yogurt isn't the most kid-friendly-carpet-loving-food. After fighting with him to just let me feed him the stupid yogurt, I have given in, and allowed him to eat all the yogurt he wants, to his delight. It hasn't been the cleanest decision of my mothering life, but we both are at peace.

I may have lost the fight, but I have won the battle. Right? At least he is eating... sort of.

Does the right end of the spoon ever really go in his mouth or is it just for decoration?? Good question...

  1. Look at that kid of yours!! I want to meet him so bad! I can't believe it! I'd love to see him and June bug together. We REALLY need to go to Hawaii before Geof. quits aviation 4eva. ):

  2. I struggled with yogurt until Zoe discovered the straw. Now it's the best thing in the world. As long as the yogurt isn't fruit packed you can give him the little yogurt cups and just poke a straw through and WAHLAA, you have mess free yogurt. It's been a life-saver, because I have many a pictures with Zoe COVERED head to toe in yummy yogurt. Try it out and it may become your love too!
