I figured I was just not adjusting well to the jet lag. However, it was a few days later, that I still couldn't kick it. I was falling asleep everywhere. I was pooped. I mentioned to our friends, that maybe I was pregnant, half joking. Tealia did NOT think I was joking, and within a few minutes we were packed up in the car, driving to track down a pregnancy test.
We found out we were pregnant again on Mothers Day. What a great day!! It was my first "real" mothers day, being that last year I was about 8 months pregnant. I spent the day throwing up, and feeling the effects of this sweet baby miracle. I was a very grateful mother.

We had our first doctors appointment set up the week we got home from the land down under. That appointment was pretty standard: "Yep. You're pregnant. According to our calculations, you are due... CHRISTAMS DAY! Cool. I have never really had anyone due Christmas Day." and we set up our next appointment with the actual OB. If you do the math, the time between our first doctor appointment, and our first OB appointment (are you confused??), was about 3 weeks later. I was looking forward to this next appointment, because it would be the thorough baby-exam, hear the heart beat, yadda yadda.
We met with our same Doctor Shimizu that we have been with since we moved here two years ago. She was excited for us, and did all the normal routine "things". Once we started discussing the due date, I expressed my concern about the actuality of this date being any where near the time I would actually deliver. J was due June 1, and was born June 22. I figured if this one was due Christmas time, with my luck, it would be born around Valentines Day.
That's when we were pleasantly surprised that she decided to do an ultra sound (NOT a normal thing for her patients---they usually do the one and only ultra sound around 20 weeks, and that's it), to try and pin point a more stable due date. J's first ultra sound was around 7 weeks (I am high risk, so we got all sorts of perks with him...that's what you get for having a messed up body), and sorry to say, it was less than amusing. He was smaller than a kidney bean. If anything, we could simply see a flash of light, that the doctor said, "Oh look, that's his heart".

But not with this kido. It was almost an overwhelming experience. Chris and I were expecting that same pathetic kidney bean shot. OH NO! This little baby is a full on baby, with arms and legs to boot. I had not prepared myself emotionally for this, and was just so pleased to see our little BABY--not alien!!-- on the screen. It was delightful! There is just something to say for when you get to see the actual life that is in you.
Of course, the fact that all the measurements she took, put him dead smack on Christmas Day, was wonderful, too. I guess we won't have a Valentines Day baby after all...

PS Don't hold your breath... We are NOT finding out what we are having, again. I apologize before hand. No form of bribery, or money will change our mind, either. We will just all have to find out at the same time, come December.
You are having a girl!!! I already bribed the dr. haha
ReplyDeletehaha.. i'm coming to your appointment and they will tell me and I'll just keep it a secret from you two untill then. Okay? :)
ReplyDeleteI think my official due date was christmas day, but I came way earlier. Maybe you'll have a girl on the 6th and then you'll have to name her KIMBERLY! Ok don't do that, boring name but maybe it could be a middle?!?!? :)

ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I went 7 1/2 months without knowing what sex Drew was but Kurt who had found out, couldn't hold the secret any longer. So how far apart will J and baby 2 be?
ReplyDeleteCongrats, how exciting, I'm totally and completely unprepared nor motivated to enter into motherhood. Anyway my due date was Jan 1st, and I came Dec 18th. My mom was ecstatic to have a xmas baby, growing up was hard, everyone does the "oh this is for xmas and bday." But mostly just tell your kids to not get married in the same month. My parents tried to warn there overly anxious child so now anniversary 12/16, b-day 12/18 xmas 12/25. Luckly paul only has to remember one month.
ReplyDeleteLet me clarify - I AM NOT PREGO, nor even close to that situation.
ReplyDeleteHey, how exciting to see you little baby! I love ultrasounds. In answer to your question, Paige will be a year old on July 17th (2 weeks!) and yep, I'm still nursing. Its free food and takes no preparation. I'm all about it. I will probably wean her in a couple months.
ReplyDeleteI meant YOUR baby... obviously.
ReplyDeleteCongrats again, I am so excited for you guys!
ReplyDeleteI like that picture of you sleeping in the car!!! Poor Taylor! The things we endure to get the kiddos here. Hope you're feeling okay! That will be a great Christmas present. I'm excited for you guys! It's a cute little baby! Love the ultrasound pictures.
ReplyDeleteFrom Grandma Nettie to my upcoming grandchild:
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for choosing such fine parents! You sure are one lucky...uh ... girl ... or boy... or whatever you are! Since your mom won't let me find out, I sure hope my grandson is not the one tortured when he ends up with the pink frilly lacy dress that Grandma bought for him!
Becca and Chris,
As we've said before, we couldn't be any happier about your wonderful news! Congratulations! Chris, I haven't told you lately (at least not since Father's Day) what a great husband, a great father, and a great person you are. We are so very glad you married our daughter. Try as I might, I cannot think of anything else I could hope for her. You are both so good together. Lucky babies, to come to your family!
Okay, I have thought of two other things: good looking (we can check that one off the list too, cuz you're dang cute!) and rich. I need you to work hard on that one, because someday I might want to come live with you in your nice big house! (every son-in-law's dream, right?!)
