Just to clarify, he wasn't actually skateboarding... He was playing with the skateboard that was resting up against the wall. He spazzed out (which is totally normal for him), but forgot to let go of the board. He fell straight back, smacked his head on the hard floor, and the board (remember...he forgot to let go) hit him in the face, with the grip tape ripping up his poor little nose/lip area.
Poor thing! Right after it happened, Chris took the board off him, and picked him up. I thought for sure he broke his nose (can babies really even break their noses??), because there was so much blood, and he was crying. But, he stopped crying right after Chris picked him up, and as we were trying to clean him up, all he wanted to do was get down... So I figured it didn't hurt that bad, it just scared him (and me!)
We couldn't ever get any good pictures of it because he is far too squirmy, but this is what we did get:
These pictures are from just right after, where it was just pink and sore looking. It got really ugly and nasty when it scabbed over. I'm sure that it hurt pretty good--that part of the face is sensitive... But now, it's only been a week, and the scabs have already fallen off. Babies heal so fast! Luckily!! Gosh, poor guy...
.
I'm sure that's the first of many wounds to come.
Poor J! Hope you're feeling better, little guy!
