FINISHED

Chris officially submitted his med school PA applications. Today.

I feel like these past couple weeks have been absorbed with this whole process. Maybe I'm a little too obsessive, but the fact that my future also depends on this process, has kept me a little more occupied then what probably merits. Oh well... I have a kind, patient husband who lets me be crazy and overbearing. Either way, he finished his Personal Narrative last night, which was pretty agonizing. We would sit down at night together, and re-read it, editing as we went; just to turn around the next night to tear it apart again. They seem to put alot of emphasis on this part of the application, being that everyone has pretty much taken all the same courses, done all the same volunteer work, yadda yadda yadda, where as the Personal Narrative is supposed to "set you apart", "tell more about who you are, and why you should be accepted to the program".

Yuck. We were sending drafts back and forth to the Bishop Chris "works" (what word would you even use?? Chris is his second counselor---you get the idea) with, who is an English professor on campus. He gave some great feed back, and once the final product was finished, we pushed the daunting E-SUBMIT button, and that was that.

Gross. Are you bored yet? Anyway, all things are done, and submitted. This is a HUGE deal for us. This has been something we have been looking forward to since our lives collided four years ago. It seems like ALOT of time and preparation has gone into this process... now we just wait. Most schools say that you will find out if you are in or not by March. Does March seem REALLY FAR AWAY to anyone else but me? Other than that, potential interviews would be anytime between now and then. Our bank account is going to love to pay for those flights...

Anyway, I'm really proud of Chris for getting to this point. It seems like it's been a long time coming... I don't know what I'm going to do with my time, now that I don' t have anything to obsess about. At least now the knot in my stomach can find a new home--until interviews start. Oh gee.

We both looked stoned... Hmmm. Maybe it's lack of sleep?

  1. Man, I know all about personal narrative stress....you're nice to help out with the editing though, I didn't get that involved. Where did you apply?

  2. I feel your pain (we were once there), but as the application is submitted, you now can focus on real life again. And wait. Getting the interviews are exciting and then trying to decide on where to actually attend will be another "obsession." Oh and you'll probably hear sooner than March, they just say that for the late comers. Good luck and let us know where you decide.

  3. Here! Here! It sucks doesn't it. Not only does the application proccess suck the first time around but it is even worse the second time around. Brady has another interview for U of Buffalo..all I know is they better not be playing with us this year because I might get crazy on them. And YES it is sooooooooo expensive! I feel like I have been robbed. I think the worst part is...wait...oh ya all of it is the worst. the application, the tests, the waiting, the re-applying, the waiting. Am I making this worse for you? I am so sorry. I just like to vent my pain to others that know what I am talking about. I sound like I am the one that actually applied don't I...but your right this effects us just as much as our husbands, it is BIG...ok...I will stop now.
